Laura Houley

Dance Movement Therapist (Prov. Professional member DTAA) 

Bachelor Arts (Dance), Dip. Dance Movement Therapy (Phoenix Institute), Dip. Dance (SDS UofN), Personal Trainer (Cert IV), Advanced Allied Health Assistant (Cert III), currently completing Masters Education. 

Laura is a passionate dance movement therapist, with experience in neurological, additional needs, and aged care populations. She also has a special interest in trauma and experience working with culturally diverse and disadvantaged populations.

Laura has a background in dance, and completed her full time training through the University of the Nations in the US, Laura completed her practical field work teaching dance and working with marginalised and underprivileged children and refugees in Thailand. Laura pursued her passion to use movement and expression to overcome cultural, linguistic, social, physical, and emotional barriers and aid in personal development and growth by completing her Diploma in Dance Movement Therapy, and has attained provisional professional membership with the DTAA. Laura also has a background as an allied health assistant, and is experienced at working within a multidisciplinary approach to support clients to reach their goals. She continues to further her study in dance and movement and is currently studying contemporary dance and education through Deakin University. 

Laura is passionate about the role movement and expression have in the development of a healthy sense of self, and believes strongly in the benefits of developing these skills and creating a safe space for exploration of needs through movement.
